Hockley Community Choir

The Hockley Community Choir is a local choir, that sings a mixture of gospel and pop, all with a big splash of soul!

The choir is open to all – no auditions needed, just a love for singing, and a willingness to have some fun.

Due to the Covid-19 restrictions we are currently meeting over the internet, using Zoom, normally on Tuedays at 7:30pm.

FAQ:

1. Who can join?
The choir is open to all aged 16 or over (no upper age limit).

2. Do I need to read music?
No. It’s great if you do, but there’s no need to read.

3. I’ve never sung in a choir before. Can I still join?
Of course! You just need to enjoy singing and be prepared to get involved and have fun!

4. How much does it cost? It’s free!
If you can pay, there’s a voluntary donation of £2 per week to cover costs.

5. What sort of music will we sing?
Gospel, pop and anything that’s positive, with a great tune and plenty of soul!

6. When are rehearsals?
Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, the choir is currently meeting via the internet, using Zoom, normally on Tuesdays at 7:30 pm.

7. What’s the address of the church?
Before Covid-19 we were meeting in the church at Bramerton Road, Hockley, SS5 4PJ

8. Who’s leading the choir?
Simon Law, a singer, musician and church leader with over 30 years’ experience singing and playing both solo work and with choirs and bands, covering a wide range of popular genres; pop, rock, gospel, soul, blues, and contemporary Christian music (CCM).

9. Will we perform anywhere?
Yes! We will join with the 
Ashingdon Community Choir for performances, as part of the Estuary Community Choirs group.
